Karate Thoughts

I needed a place where I could write my thoughts and feelings about karate.

Around the Block

Coming home from karate class, I got to my house and drove once around the block. It's a shade shy of a half mile. I went inside, put my sneakers on, and proceded to jog around the block! I think I jogged half and walked half. It felt great. I wasn't tired, just winded. I liked going out at night.

This morning I got some advice from a friend at work who runs all the time. She said to continually up my goal and before I know it, I'll be entering races! HA! Let me get around the block first, without stopping!

Tonight should be a nice nite for running, too. I look forward to it. I might jump rope a bit, too.

Running

Yes, I said "running." My goal: be able to jog to the karate studio by....fall. It's about two miles. I'm not sure how realistic this goal is, but I have plenty of time to try to reach it!

Jolted A Bit

I was standing in the lobby, chatting with other parents. He came up to me and mentioned that there might be a black belt test in September. I looked startled, then asked if it was even possible for me to make that test. He said YES. I don't think it's possible, though. I still have one more brown belt to go. If I work extra hard, Maybe I'll test for third degree in June? Then 3 months to black? I doubt it, though. That would be an incredible feat. I was flattered that he thought I could do it! The guys always make me feel good about myself. I feel like trying extra hard, just because he thinks I can make it!

I think that this short conversation has boosted my desire to train harder. I really want to start running. Yes, really. I know, I said that before. But, I mean it this time. I HAVE to start running if I'm going to be prepared. I've lost 12 pounds in the past month. My determination is getting stronger. I CAN DO IT! I still have the running sneakers! I start tomorrow. (I would start today, but it's 10:15pm and it's raining.)
